Big News

Addie is right now down for her first night of sleep in a big girl bed! I will check in tomorrow and let you know how it all goes. How many times will she fall out? How many times will she climb out?

Fall in Duluth

Random thoughts...

  • Addie speaks in full sentences all of the time.  She doesn't answer questions with just one word, as most kids her age would.  Instead she responds with a full sentence. If you were to ask Addie what she is doing, instead of saying "brushing teeth" she would say "i am brushing my teeth, mom".

  • I am maxed out.  There were days when I had maxed out credit cards, now just my brain is maxed out.

  • 13 weeks!!

  • I'm going to book club tonight. We are going to talk about the book that I picked, the book that I didn't read. I'm guessing they wouldn't have wanted to read Principles of Accounting or I would have picked the book that I HAVE been reading.

  • Jackson is not getting enough sleep lately.  He's whiny and very needy. Did I mention whiny? He used to sleep until 8am when we'd drag him out of bed.  Now he is waking around 7:30.  The whining makes me want to drop-kick him somedays.  Don't worry, I never would.  Most days I've wanted to drop-kick my computer but after 15 years of spending 8 hours a day with a computer, I never have so don't report me to Child Services.

  • You didn't think the last comment was funny?  You don't have kids that ever went through a whiny stage.

  • You are my boy reading this entry in 15 years?  It's okay you will have thoughts of wanting to drop-kick your incessantly whiny kid someday and you will understand.

    Cheese, Gromit, Cheese!

We are cheese lovers, this family. There isn't a cheese that we don't like and we will even travel to great lengths to get good cheese. A few weekends ago we went on a roadtrip to Nelson, Wisconsin. I remembered going to this little cheese shop with my grandparents and my parents. We drove down the Wisconsin side, a beautiful drive and stopped in at Nelson's. On the way back we travelled the Minnesota side and passed through Red Wing where we had to make a stop at the candy store that I have fond memories of. Here are pictures from our travels:

    Darth Vader came with us.

Along the way Jackson had to make a pit-stop.  And the sides of the roads were loaded in butterflies. You can't tell very well from the picture but he is surrounded by close to 50 butterflies.

    First day of Pre-K

I will be honest and say that this is actually the second day of school because I forgot to bring in my phone to take a picture on the first day (bad mom).  And after 10 pictures this was all I could get Jackson to do.  So happy first second day of Pre-K my boy!  You are growing up fast!

    Random thoughts...

  • If I don't get out of this house soon, I will go mad!

  • Jackson has had a flu bug since Wednesday night.  Since then he has had a half piece of toast, 3 saltine crackers, 12 oz of Gatorade, 2 dishes of applesauce, a small amount of orange pop, a roll, 5 black olives and 1green. Some of that has stayed down, most has not.  That is FOUR days, people!

  • I hope I don't catch this bug.

  • Jackson has had the flu and Addie is potty-training; the amount of laundy is overwhelming.

  • I am 33 and have finally watched Star Wars: A New Hope, The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi.  That didn't take long. Jackson is 4.5.

  • I didn't get to have the corn ice cream that I was hoping for at the fair.

  • I think Lynne Rossetto Kasper is a joy to listen to.  Thank goodness or my job would suck!

  • Addie is the "I do it" stage.

    Sister and Brother

There are times when Jackson and Addie bicker back and forth non-stop.  Addie lays on Jackson, he doesn't like it.  Jackson takes Addie's toy and she wails.  Addie bosses Jackson and then Jackson bosses Addie.  It's an almost never-ending battle.  And just when I want to pull my hair out, it's quiet and I walk into Addie's room to find this:
