A South Dakota visit...

Our great friends came from South Dakota for a visit over the weekend. It was so nice to welcome our friends and have them stay the night with us. It was a busy household and the quarters were a bit small for all but we really enjoyed the company. We had loads to catch up on and enjoy each others' kids. Here is Jackson welcoming Liam to our home:

    An update...

Adeline: The baby girl seems to be pretty laid back and isn't making things too difficult on any of us. She is waking up around 7:30 for a feeding and then heads off for a morning nap around 9-10. Another short nap around lunch time and another unpredictable afternoon cat nap. She is still eating every 2 or 2.5 hours which is probably how she got to be in the 90th percentile for weight. She'll eat again around 8:30 and nap on and off until 10:30 p.m. when I feed her again, Ron works to get her to sleep after that feeding and she makes it until around 5:30. We've tried a couple of bottles now with her so that she will be a pro when I head back to work, but she isn't adapting well. This will be a priority for the next week, as I get ready to head back to work.

Jackson: Jackson is doing great with potty training, besides a day of accidents last week when he had a playdate with his cousin Luke. Other than that day we've had just two small accidents in four weeks. I am so proud of him! Mornings he's been getting up with a dry pull up because he cries out for us when he has to go potty. Sometimes I wish he'd just go in his pull up and let us sleep! What's weird is that sometimes to tell us that he has to go potty he says "my butt hurts". Strange, I know. He's really been a joy to be with while at home with Addie. He has his moments, and doesn't listen all that well, but when it's just the three of us, he's really been a great little guy.

Sara: The last 11 weeks have been a roller coaster. I have really loved being home with my family, but it's exhausting. In the 11 weeks I have been a way from kids for a whopping 10 hours or so. Addie likes to be held and on the go, so I spend a lot of time pacing the house with her. Jackson wants to interact and it's tough to do when I can't sit still for more than five minutes. Add on the selling of the house, cleaning for showings and looking for a new home and it's a recipe for disaster. We've made it though and if all goes well, we'll be moving to our new home on Nov. 23. I head back to work on November 2 and am looking forward to taking on some new challenges that don't involve moving all or our belongings or taking care of kids.

Ron: With the selling of our house came a lot of "projects". Painting, electrical work and plumbing which has kept Ron busy every waking moment. He has still found time to play on his volleyball team and is looking forward to his birthday present this year. Ron will be turning 40 on November 6! For his birthday gift I am sending him along with his friend Bob to Austin, TX for a boys weekend with two of his best friends that live there. I can't wait to hear the stories when he comes back.

    Adeline...

    Growing up fast:

    Random thoughts...

  • If I were Jackson I would think that all of my toys come to life after I left or went to sleep. It seems that this is a common theme in childrens shows.
  • I feel empowered after coming home from a successful Target trip with two children.
  • It's looking like our family will be a bunch of little Canadians.
  • I don't think I've ever been so tired... EVER. I fell asleep sitting up during Addie's last feeding last night.
  • My son is the cutest cowboy on earth. He's been wearing his Halloween costume so much at home, I bet he will be sick of it by the time Halloween comes.
  • My kid can roll his Spanish r's... I'm so proud.
  • And this is all I have time to write: Baby and Husband need me. Thank you Diego for at least occupying the boy.

    The house is sold...

Our house was on the market for 17 days and it sold! We were very excited, but now finding the next place to live has proved a bit exhausting. I'm surprised that two people ever agree on a house, but indeed millions of couples do it. Ron and I have different ideas of what the perfect house should contain. I'd really like a separate master bath, Ron desires a three car garage. He needs a place for his wood-working hobby and if we have a garage, I'm not willing to park outside in the winter (Yes, he did ask me if I would).

We spent the weekend looking at houses and painting our garage for the inspection. It's been a bit overwhelming, and the thought of packing up all that we own in the next five weeks makes me feel... well, a bit dizzy actually.

    Random thoughts...

  • I am so proud of Jackson, he is potty trained during the day and at naptime... we'll work on night time later.
  • Jackson has a wonderful imagination: Last night while downstairs he brought his stool up to a bench in the downstairs bathroom that is slatted and pretended to play the piano.
  • Addie doesn't hate tummy time as much as her brother did. This morning she fell asleep during tummy time, and she is still sleeping.
  • The last two nights Addie has only woken at night twice, once at 2:30 and at 6:30. That's not too bad, it took an hour to get her back to sleep the first time and right away the second time. I'm still tired.
  • Yesterday I read Jackson 9 books, his dad read a few at bedtime and his grandma read him at least one while he visited. I'm so happy he loves books. Right now he is "reading" a book to his alligator.
  • I am going out to dinner tonight with two girlfriends!! This is the first since Addie was born, I can't wait!
  • I stepped in poop this morning. I'm going to leave it at that.
  • I did make the Moroccan Chicken Soup and it was super tasty.
  • We are hoping to hear of an offer on our house this afternoon. I am trying not to get too excited, so that I don't get bummed out if it doesn't happen, but it isn't working.
  • I think that Chegg.com is great. It's an online textbook library. You borrow a book at half the cost to buy the book, they plant a tree in honor of you not buying the book new and cutting down a tree, send you the textbook and you return it when you are done with your semester on their dime.
  • Nickjr.com has tons of games and coloring projects that Jackson and I enjoy doing together.

    Addie's two month check-up...

Addie had her two month appointment today with Dr. Mayrand. She is a good eater, much like her mother and her stats show it:

    Weight: 12 lb 9 oz (90%)
    Length: 1' 10.75" (69%)
    Head Circumference: 38 cm (33%)

Ron and Jackson built the first snowman of the season this morning:

    Random thoughts...

  • I'm wondering how to get my boy's feet measured without having to go to Stride Rite. I'm not a fan of spending $50 on shoes he will outgrow so quickly.
  • Why is Jackson sporting fighting moves so often? They don't do Karate kicks on Noggin' and it isn't like I exercise to Tae Bo... okay, exercise at all!
  • Who is Jackson talking to all the time?
  • So far we are on day three of dry underpants!
  • You are at Como park, baby is finally packed in her carseat and the boy tells you he has to go to the bathroom. What do you do?
  • I hope letting him pee in the parking lot is your answer.
  • If it isn't... it's not what I would do either.
  • It's not a meerdog Jackson, it's a meercat
  • Mylicon drops are helping, thanks Joanna.
  • I'm thinking of making Moroccan chicken soup this weekend, sounds good doesn't it? Now let's see if I get to it.
  • Sleep number bed...

I'm not sure how she sleeps this way, but she does, all the time!

    Random thoughts...

  • Trying to sell your house is an emotional process
  • Our house can go from clean to not in 2.2 seconds
  • My husband's motto: What's mine is yours, except for my pumpkin pie
  • Last night we paused the Wizard of Oz to search for the hanging person. Is that really true?? And no one actually died in a James Bond movie because they were painted gold, and that's the truth.

I will leave you with one of Adeline's first smiles:

    Look out ladies...

Uh... shouldn't the girls get these kind of lashes?

    Random thoughts...

  • We just taught our kid to pee in the woods... when you gotta go, you gotta go.
  • I was right that Joan Cusak is the voice of Peep!
  • I wonder how many other famous voices voice tv cartoon characters?
  • Is putting a bow in Addie's hair ridiculous? Yes, but I just did it anyway.
  • It feels kind of sad to have a for sale sign in our front yard. This house has a lot of memories but I'm glad we had a showing already even if it didn't end up in a sale.
  • I have eaten a lot of Jimmy John's and Baja Sol this maternity leave. Last time it was Little Oven, Davanni's and Culvers.
  • I don't love that the boy went poo and asked me to "look at this big log!"
  • I just realized that my blog is now loaded with words like poo, pee, potty and penis.
  • And lastly: I could really go for a McDonalds sweet tea!
