A flower a day

I didn't know it, but Jackson signed me up for the flower a day club. Every morning when I opened the door for Jackson so that we could jump in the car and head off to school, he ran! He ran all the way to the back yard around one side and back around the other. And in his hand every morning, until the flowers died, he had one of these in his hands. He told me that I should bring it to work and put it on my desk so that I could look at it all day. And believe it or not, that's exactly what I did.

Every morning I carried the flower into work. I through yesterday's dried flower in the garbage and put the new one under my monitor. Friends asked about the flower and I proudly told them the story of how my sweet boy gave me a flower every morning.

Jackson's Spanish Recital

Bowling for Boobies

Did the subject line get your attention?

My mom is doing a great thing (and my aunt Mell too). A thing I wish I could do with her. My mom is doing the three day breast cancer walk and I am so proud of her! This last weekend her team held a fundraiser, bowling for boobies. Well, the night before Jackson and I had to practice our form. He did pretty well... and wasn't even the lowest scoring participant, though the bumpers did help.

Donuts

I have finally taken some time to download photos from my camera. I find that I don't know what to blog about unless I have a picture to trigger a thought.

This memory is brought to you by: donuts.

One of my favorite memories of life before kids is (not of staying out drinking until all hours, sleeping until 10am or happy hours spent on patios) of my husband getting up before me on Sunday mornings, getting the paper, donuts and coffee. (I'm lying, those memories that I mention in parenthesis are indeed actually my favorites, but this is a nice one too.) Ron used to bring home donuts and on one specific occasion I remember sitting on the front steps eating them while reading the paper. (This memory was actually after a wild party in which guests were waking up and leaving our house while we were eating donuts).

Now we eat donuts with our kids. It's a different kind of fun, but equally as fun, nonetheless.

More randomness....

  • I am the very proud owner of a white iPad!

  • When I woke Jackson up this morning he was disappointed. He said he was watching a really good movie in his head.

  • Jackson's tennis skills are improving.

  • Addie is learning to jump, ride a tricycle, drink out of a cup, get undressed and say her ABCs.

  • Jackson enjoys playing with worms.

  • I enjoy planting flower pots.

  • Jury duty is not fun.

    Today

Today I am a blogger, a conference goer, a content strategist, a problem solver, a mom who let her kid pee in the street, a tennis pro, a story teller and I'm looking forward to being a wife whenever my husband comes home!

    Random thoughts...

  • I have been waiting to go to bed tonight since the moment I woke up. New sleep number bed, new sheets, new blanket... ah! I will take a shower before bed for this night!

  • Pokemon means pocket monster.

  • I am looking forward to garage sale season. Both to get rid of some stuff and to buy some new toys to be played with.

  • I want an iPad. I really want an iPad. Which is why I am so sad that EVERY store in MN is out of stock.

  • Addie loved swinging last summer, this summer she's afraid.

  • Jackson is correcting me every time I say "hate". He is sure to tell me that it's a bad word and I shouldn't say it. He's right. And I use it too often.

  • I missed my scrapbooking date with the ladies because I had a very bad cold. Today is the first day that I'm feeling good again. It was a long cold and I'm very disappointed that I missed my night out.

  • Every time Jackson steps foot outside he runs to the back yard to pick me a daffodil. It's so sweet.

    Addie's friend Leah

Grandma Jan has been watching her friend Lois' granddaughter at our house during the week, along with Addie.  Addie and Leah are becoming very good friends.  And although they play mostly apart from each other, Addie is very excited to know that Leah will be coming over.  Addie calls her (Leela).
