Keeping Up with Ron, Sara, Jackson and Addie

It's official...

What kid doesn't like peanut butter and jelly sandwiches? And truthfully, what parent hasn't been saved by the pb and j? It's easy and a good source of protein. And now Jackson can join in on the greatness of peanut butter and any other nut for that matter! And he loves it, it was a bit messy, but he really enjoyed his first meals of peanut butter. He has been able to eat sunbutter which is oddly close in taste, so he hasn't had to miss much really.

Sometimes you feel like a nut...

And it's looking like when Jackson feels like one, he can have one. Jackson started his morning at the allergist's office doing a food challenge. The word is that he's tolerating nuts with no reactions! I'll find out more tonight when I can talk to both Jackson and Ron. But Ron has checked in and so far... so good! YAY!

ECFE

Today Jackson started his first day at an ECFE preschool class. It meets once per week at the Elementary School up the road. Since the class meets on Wednesdays, Grandma Jan will take him there and participate in the activities for parents. Jackson had a good time in the class and enjoyed knocking down blocks and reading books while there. We showed up a little early for the class, so we waited in the hall under the coat hooks and Jackson had a little snack.

6 months...

Where has the time gone? This little beauty of ours is six months old today. Adeline at this time you...

melt everyone's hearts with your big wide smiles.
giggle when your brother plays with you.
stick out your cute little tounge.
can put your nuk in your own mouth.
still wake up every night around 3 am for a feeding.
sometimes wake up at 1 am because you want to hang out with dad.
have found your feet!
enjoy your bath.
get dirty in your neck rolls.
make me happy every time I look at you.

At your appointment your stats were:
Weight: 19 lbs. 4 ounces (96%)
Length: 2' 2.5" (78%)
Head: 42.5 cm (53%)

A Gold Medal...

We celebrated the start of the Olympics by fondueing (maybe not a real word)! Jackson had his first experience dipping all sorts of fruits and pound cake into the chocolate fondue. Yum!

The excitement was too much for me though and I went to sleep around 9:00 and left the boys to watch. Jackson stayed up a bit longer but eventually fell asleep in his daddy's arms.

Be square...

The first room of many is now painted in the new house. One early Sunday morning after a feeding I laid awake thinking of colors to paint. When everyone was up we made a trip to the home store because I had a wild idea. Why not paint squares on top of squares of shades of orange in the bathroom?? It sounded like a good idea. One week later, and many, many coats of paint... it's done. While it was tedious and frustrating, I LOVE it. It's fun and wild and perfect for the kids' bathroom.

Squish...

It kind of looks like she's getting squished, and she is a bit... but this is when Addie let's out her best giggles!

Likes and Dislikes:

Jackson likes: singing the national anthem, doing puzzles, eating cookies, learning about dinosaurs, reading books about bones, watching the shuttle launch, playing in snow, strawberry milk, olives, playing drums, discovering things, learning about trees, helping mom to cook and being a pirate.

Jackson dislikes: turning his listening ears on. The boy is testing our patience lately and really testing boundaries. He's been carried out of stores kicking and screaming and has spent a lot of time in time-out.

Addie likes: eating, playing with toys, her pacifier, being tickled, crinkling paper and looking at herself in the mirror.

Addie dislikes: being left alone.

Random Thoughts...

  • Addie is still a great eater. She had her first bites of green beans and loved them.

  • "Let's snuggle," are my two favorite words to hear when I wake Jackson up in the morning. It's no wonder I'm always late for work. Wouldn't you be?

  • Speaking of work: Today is my boss' last day. I'm SOO sad. She was really a joy to work for and made my job enjoyable. Booo!

  • I've been working on a painting project in the kids bathroom recently that involves drawing lines on the walls and then taping where I will paint. Last night Jackson took a pencil to the wall. I reacted poorly and when he said "but you are doing it mom and I was just trying to help," I felt horrible. I have to keep reminding myself what it's like to be in his shoes.

  • We are still sleeping half of the night with Addie in bed with us. I feed her at 8:30 and put her to bed around 9:30 in her crib. If we are lucky, she doesn't fuss again until around 2:30 or 3:00. It's after this feeding, that I can't take the time to put her back in her crib so I feed her in bed and there she sleeps in between her mom and dad.

  • My plate is probably too full these days and my mood is showing it. I'm always behind on something; laundry, housework, homework, or MPR work. I don't ever seem to be caught up... and if I am it's just a moment before I'm behind again.

  • I wish I could scrapbook more. I have really found that what makes me happy is being creative. This painting project is filling that role for now, but I really need to be doing something creative at all times and it's hard to fit that in. I have so many projects stored in my head right now and so little time to work on any of them.

  • For my writing class, I need to write a story in 55 words or less. The story needs to have characters, a plot, a setting and a resolution. Try it, it's kind of fun. I'll share mine here when I'm done with it.
